Leadership

Decades of regulatory, markets, and energy experience across jurisdictions.

TCA leadership combines compliance-side rigor, trading-desk fluency, and on-the-ground operating experience across energy, infrastructure, and global capital markets.

Michael R. Berry

Founder & Principal

Michael is the founder of TokenCap Advisors and the architect of the firm's analytical framework. His career spans regulatory compliance, capital markets, and energy sector operations — a combination that shapes TCA's distinctive approach to structured risk analysis.

Michael began his career as a National Futures Association In-Charge Auditor, working directly on compliance examinations and member firm oversight — foundational experience in what regulatory rigor actually looks like in practice. From there, he moved to the sell side as Senior Vice President at ABN AMRO, where he led institutional futures business and stood up the Eagle Futures Fund.

A significant chapter of his career was spent in Korea, where he was instrumental in the early development of the Korean futures industry — working across market structure, clearing, and cross-border capital flow questions that shaped the maturation of one of Asia's largest derivatives markets.

At BP plc, Michael worked on global energy markets and trading, developing the market fluency that informs TCA's sector coverage. Later, at PetroChina, his compliance-side work covered cross-jurisdictional regulatory frameworks for one of the world's largest integrated energy operators.

He founded TokenCap Advisors to apply this intersection of compliance, markets, and operations to a specific problem: how capital allocators can move with confidence across increasingly complex project-level decisions, when the analytical infrastructure to support those decisions often doesn't exist in structured form. TCA is his answer — an analytical firm built around the discipline of independent, decision-grade intelligence.

Research & Intelligence Function

Analyst team

The research function at TokenCap Advisors LLC is designed to deliver disciplined, decision-oriented intelligence grounded in rigorous methodology and domain-specific expertise. The firm integrates structured analytical frameworks with advanced data processing to evaluate opportunities across capital-intensive sectors, with particular emphasis on energy and natural resources.

Central to this approach is the application of specialized geological expertise, supported by PhD-level professionals, enabling technical validation of resource potential, reservoir characteristics, and development feasibility. This is complemented by deep market knowledge spanning commodity dynamics, capital flows, and macroeconomic conditions, ensuring that technical findings are contextualized within real-world pricing and demand environments.

TCA's research process prioritizes consistency, transparency, and repeatability, producing standardized outputs that support comparative analysis and informed capital allocation decisions. Senior R&I analysts with sector-specific depth lead project intake, assumption registers, and source pack curation. Individual biographies available on request to qualified counterparties.

Risk Function

Scoring team

The risk function at TokenCap Advisors LLC is structured around a formalized Risk Framework designed to deliver consistent, transparent, and defensible evaluations of capital-allocation risk across all opportunities.

At the core of this function is the TCA Risk Engine, which integrates quantitative modeling, scenario analysis, and structured scoring methodologies to assess technical, market, financial, and regulatory risk factors. The framework is informed by domain-specific expertise, ensuring that risk assessments reflect the underlying realities of complex sectors such as energy and infrastructure.

Artificial intelligence is employed as a tool to enhance data processing, pattern recognition, and analytical efficiency; however, all outputs are subject to rigorous human oversight to validate assumptions, interpret results, and ensure contextual accuracy. This combination of systematic methodology, specialized expertise, and controlled use of AI enables TCA to produce repeatable, high-integrity risk assessments that directly inform capital allocation decisions. Risk scorers operate separately from R&I analysts, with dedicated authority over element-level risk decomposition, dimension weighting, and composite rating derivation.
